Patriots' Cyrus Jones out for season with torn ACL
New England Patriots cornerback Cyrus Jones has been ruled out for the 2017 season with a torn ACL and partially torn meniscus, as reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Jones, a highly-regarded second-round pick out of Alabama, was looking to rebound from a poor rookie campaign a year ago. He wasn't going to be a big factor in the defensive backfield but he was the team's top returner. With he and Julian Edelman (knee) both out for the year, the Patriots will have to figure out their returning situation soon.
In just 10 games, Jones made 5 tackles and forced 2 fumbles in the 2016 season. On the other hand, he tallied 46 yards on 11 punt returns and 180 yards on 8 kick returns. His 22.5 yards per kick return would've ranked 9th in the NFL if he had enough returns to qualify.
