Packers sign Ahmad Brooks to one-year deal
The Green Bay Packers have signed free agent linebacker Ahmad Brooks to a one-year deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Brooks was released by the San Francisco 49ers last week. He spent nine seasons with the team after two with the Cincinnati Bengals. During that time, he tallied 290 tackles, 53.5 sacks and 12 forced fumbles over 98 starts and 133 total games. At 33, Brooks will serve as a pass-rush specialist and make a base salary of $4.5 million in 2017.
Green Bay's 40.0 sacks placed them in a tie for 6th among all defenses a year ago. Brooks should help add to that total.
