Frank Gore will be on 'pitch count' for Colts to start season

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said Wednesday that running back Frak Gore will be on a "pitch count" to open the season in order to keep him fresh for a playoff run.

What It Means:

Gore was also limited to just two carries in the preseason for the Colts. This could open up additional opportunities to rookie Josh Robinson, especially in games in which the Colts hold large leads.

Gore started to show signs of decline last year with the San Francisco 49ers. He finished 30th in Rushing Net Expected Points per play among the 43 running backs who logged at least 100 carries. It's possible that a decrease in volume and a move to the Colts could increase his efficiency, but with Gore's heavy volume dependence the past two seasons, his fantasy outlook is becoming more bleak. Our projections are still optimistic about his relative production as they see him rushing for 865 yards and 6 touchdowns, still respectable numbers
