Browns release cornerback Joe Haden
The Cleveland Browns have released veteran cornerback Joe Haden.
After a failed attempt to trade the 28-year-old and his $11.1 million contract, the Browns have decided to let Haden walk prior to the start of the season. He is not subject to waivers and will be able to sign with any team after 4:00 p.m. EST today. Haden's agent said that there is a ton of interest and that he would have a new team by tomorrow afternoon. ESPN's Adam Schefter points to the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs as two teams expected to have a strong interest in Haden's services.
In 13 games, Haden racked up 45 tackles, 11 pass defenses and 3 interceptions last season in Cleveland. Despite his presence, the team's pass defense ranked dead last in the league, according to our in-house metrics.
