J.J. Nelson

Cardinals wide receiver J.J. Nelson a risky fantasy option for 2017

J.J. Nelson of the Arizona Cardinals finished as the 46th-best fantasy wide receiver in 2016, but our numberFire models project him to fall way below the top-50 for the 2017 season.

What It Means:

Arizona's starting wide receivers are far from set in stone. In the Cardinals' preseason loss to the Bears over the weekend, Nelson played 8 of the starters' 12 snaps. Meanwhile fellow receivers Jaron Brown and Larry Fitzgerald played 12 and 11, respectively. John Brown did not play.

Nelson is currently being drafted as the 72nd wide receiver off the board in fantasy drafts, according to Fantasy Football Calculator, but our models see him as just the 85th-most productive wideout for 2017, with a projected 21.2 receptions, 352.2 yards and 3.0 touchdowns for the year.
