Jacquizz Rodgers set up for early success in Buccaneers' backfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Jacquizz Rodgers will face the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, and Minnesota Vikings in Week 1-3.

What It Means:

With Doug Martin suspended for the first three games of the season, Rodgers is expected to fill the void as the starter in the Buccaneers' backfield. Those matchups all happen to come against teams who finished in the bottom-half of the NFL in total rushing yards allowed last season, as the Vikings were 20th, the Bears were 27th, and the Dolphins ranked 30th. In five starts last season, Rodgers averaged 92.4 rushing yards on 21.4 attempts per game while finding the end zone twice. Per Fantasy Football Calculator, his ADP has risen all the way to the end of the eighth round in standard drafts, but he remains a solid value pick with that sort of guaranteed workload early on.

numberFire's models project Rodgers to average 14.9 carries for 64.6 rushing yards and 0.37 touchdowns over the first three weeks of the season, with 2.6 receptions for 18.9 yards and 0.09 scores. He's the RB40 overall in our fantasy rankings for the entire year.
