Matt Forte

Matt Forte (hamstring) might not be ready for Jets in Week 1

New York Jets running back Matt Forte's (hamstring) status isn't certain for Week 1, head coach Todd Bowles revealed on Monday.

What It Means:

Forte was bothered by knee issues toward the end of last season, and he's now missed the majority of training camp for a second straight offseason due to a strained hamstring. Currently being drafted in the 10th round of standard fantasy drafts, according to Fantasy Football Calculator, the 31-year-old running back is unlikely to play a full 16-game season in 2017. Bilal Powell would be in a workhorse back role for the Jets in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills if Forte is out. Sixth-round rookie Elijah McGuire is third on the depth chart.

numberFire's models believe Forte will finish as the RB32 overall this season, and we project him to rush 157.9 times for 700.3 yards and 3.79 touchdowns while catching 26.9 passes for 213.6 yards and 0.45 scores through the air.
