Eagles' LeGarrette Blount and Wendell Smallwood could be camp cuts

"It wouldn't be surprising" if Philadelphia Eagles running back LeGarrette Blount and Wendell Smallwood are among the team's cuts, according to Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media.

What It Means:

Lombardo hypothesizes that undrafted free agent Corey Clement may be putting both players on notice for their jobs. Blount has started both preseason games but has rushed for just 17 yards on nine carries. He also hasn't shown much in camp, in an offense where backs are expected to play in the passing game. Add to these facts that he seems to be showing signs of fatigue after logging a career-high 299 carries last season, and Blount's fantasy arrow is pointing in the wrong direction.

Despite the underwhelming numbers, Blount is expected to be the Eagles' starter come Week 1 and we project him for 681 yards and 4.75 touchdowns on 166 carries – 36th in our running back ranks. Smallwood comes in at 67th by our models.
