Christian Hackenberg continues awful preseason for Jets

New York Jets quarterback Christian Hackenberg started Saturday's preseason game against the Detroit Lions, completing 2-of-6 passes for 14 yards.

What It Means:

Named a "surprise" starter by head coach Todd Bowles, Hackenberg played jaw-droppingly bad football in this one. He took two thundering sacks and let a ball squib out of his hand, generating a total -3 yards of passing offense. His "completions" were a pair of checkdowns to the running back. The Jets hid Hackenberg as a rookie because he wasn't ready, but it has done nothing to make him better.

Our models still project Josh McCown to start the majority of the 2017 season, racking up 3,333 passing yards, 18.11 touchdowns, and 13.63 interceptions on 526 passing attempts.
