Lions' Ameer Abdullah a candidate for 1,000 yards in 2017
Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah will top 1,000 yards rushing this season if he stays healthy, ESPN reporter Michael Rothstein believes.
That's a pretty big qualifier after last season's foot injury, but Abdullah played all 16 games as a rookie despite suffering a shoulder injury late in the year and did not have injury issues in college. Rothstein admits touchdowns could be a concern and Theo Riddick will steal work in the passing game.
Our models project Abdullah for 723 rushing yards and 5.06 touchdowns on 156 carries, with 37 catches for 334 receiving yards and 1.32 air scores. That's just outside our top-20 fantasy projections for running backs this year.
