John Brown

John Brown's (quad, sickle-cell) future with Cardinals in doubt

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown will be replaced if his sickle-cell issues don't improve, said head coach Bruce Arians.

What It Means:

“If he can’t run, he can’t play. Now, if he can’t run long enough (after he returns), you’ve got to replace him,” Arians said. Brown's sickle-cell trait slows the healing and recovery process of soft-tissue problems, such as the quad issue currently keeping the receiver off the field. Unless he shows significant improvement over the next couple of weeks, Brown shouldn't be viewed as any more than a late-round flier in fantasy drafts. On the flip side, it does mean good news for Jaron Brown's fantasy outlook.

numberFire's models remain optimistic on Brown in 2017, as we project him to catch 54.9 passes for 784.5 yards and 4.04 touchdowns this season. He is our 48th-ranked fantasy wideout for the year.
