Tavon Austin still has a role with Rams
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin "definitely has a place" despite the trade for Sammy Watkins, general manager Les Snead said.
Austin has been a gadget player his entire career and failed miserably when trying to play in larger roles. With Watkins and Robert Woods lining up as outside receivers and rookie Cooper Kupp in the slot, it will be tough for Austin to contribute. The only "role" imaginable for Austin after the Rams offseason additions is a rotational gadget player.
Our models project Austin for 522 receiving yards and 2.83 touchdowns on 49 catches, adding 12 rushes for 78 rushing yards and 0.62 touchdowns in 2017. He's outside the top-60 fantasy receivers this year.
