Mitch Trubisky impresses in Bears' preseason opener
Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for 166 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-25 passing in his NFL preseason debut Thursday night.
The rookie impressed in his first true NFL action, as he made good reads and showed accuracy on a variety of pass plays. It may have come against non-starters, but, after the Bears paid such a big price to draft him with the second overall pick, Trubisky's performance is encouraging all the same. As for presumed starter Mike Glennon, he completed just 2 of 8 attempts for 20 yards and a pick-six going the other way.
Working off the assumption that Glennon will be the starter for the majority of the regular season, our models project the veteran for more than 3,361 yards and 24.54 touchdowns this season. Meanwhile, we limit Trubisky to 468 yards and 2.88 passing touchdowns on about 68 attempts in his rookie campaign.
