Chiefs' Alex Smith feeling pressure to push ball downfield
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has been "pushing the ball downfield consistently" in training camp, the Kansas City Star reports.
Per reporter Terez Paylor, Smith "might be testing the deep ball more than he ever has in camp." Smith may be feeling the heat from first-round rookie Patrick Mahomes, who has been the subject of glowing reviews all offseason, and is ready to try new things to hold onto his starting job. Ultimately, however, Smith is probably too set in his ways.
Our models project Smith to retain his job through the 2017 season, accruing 3,493 passing yards, 19.92 touchdowns, and 13.50 interceptions on 508 passing attempts as our 25th-best quarterback for fantasy football.
