Montee Ball

Broncos, Cowboys discussing trade for Montee Ball

The Denver Broncos are reportedly in talks to trade running back Montee Ball to the Dallas Cowboys.

What It Means:

Ball has had an uninspiring preseason, and is on the Broncos roster bubble right now. The trade would further crowd the Cowboys backfield, which already includes Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, Gus Johnson and Lance Dunbar.

According to our Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, Ball was one of the worst backs in the NFL last season. His -0.15 Rushing NEP per carry ranked 65th out of the 73 backs with 50 or more carries. Dallas' backfield is going to be a true committee this season, and one that will likely frustrate fantasy football players on a weekly basis.
