Cardinals waive short-yardage running back Robert Hughes
The Arizona Cardinals have waived short-yardage running back Robert Hughes Friday as part of their final cutdowns.
With Andre Ellington, David Johnson and Chris Johnson all seemingly safe on the roster, things were a bit too crowded in the Arizona backfield.
Hughes had 13 carries for 25 yards in the preseason, an average of 1.9 yards per carry. He carried the ball seven times during the regular season last year, finishing with a total of -4.08 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP). The Cardinals as a team finished 26th in our schedule-adjusted Rushing NEP per play last year.
