Blair Walsh

Vikings' kicker Blair Walsh has another rough outing

Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh was 1-for-2 on field goal attempts in the team's final preseason loss to the Tennessee Titans.

What It Means:

He missed a 48-yard kick in the first quarter, and converted a 33-yard try late in the second quarter, but there was little to no wind on Thursday evening in Nashville. Walsh has made just 5 of his 11 preseason field goal attempts, and missed one extra point, but head coach Mike Zimmer insists he's in no danger of losing his job. “Blair is our kicker, okay?” Zimmer said. “He needs to make them, but Blair’s our kicker.”

Before the start of camp, Walsh signed a four-year, $14 million contract extension that would force his team to eat $3.7 million in dead cap space if they cut him this year. Walsh's spot is secure for 2015, but he's not someone we recommend drafting, even in the last round; we project him as our 29th-best placekicker in 2015.
