Panthers' Cam Newton (shoulder) making good progress
Carolina Panthers team doctors are happy with quarterback Cam Newton's (shoulder) progress, head coach Ron Rivera said.
Newton has not thrown a pass in live drills since complaining of soreness before last Tuesday's practice. He has gotten in some light throws off to the side in recent days, however, and the Panthers continue to not seem concerned about his rehab. He almost certainly will not participate in the preseason opener on Wednesday, but he is still on track for Week 1.
Our models project Newton for 3,693 passing yards, 24.48 touchdowns, and 13.46 interceptions on 526 passing attempts, adding 92 rushes for 528 rushing yards and 5.13 touchdowns.
