Isaiah Crowell

Isaiah Crowell the favorite to start Week 1 for the Browns

Browns coach Mike Pettine said Isaiah Crowell has the edge over Terrance West for the starting running back job.

What It Means:

Neither West nor Crowell showed enough in the preseason to solidify an obvious starter, but Crowell appears to be the more talented back, and he had a more efficient 2014 season.

Crowell's -0.03 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry in 2014 put him ahead of Terrance West, who posted a -0.05 Rushing NEP per carry. Crowell's 41.61 percent Success Rate also bested West's 38.01 percent. The Browns' backfield will remain hard to predict this year, especially with the addition of Duke Johnson.
