Giants' Victor Cruz (calf) status for Week 1 in doubt
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz's status for Week 1 is 'very much in doubt,' according to ESPN insider Dan Graziano.
Cruz suffered a calf injury two weeks ago that has kept him out of practice. Rueben Randle will see an uptick in playing time and targets if Cruz is forced to miss regular season games.
The Giants ranked 13th in our schedule-adjusted Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) metric last season. Cruz ranked 54th out of 97 receivers with at least 40 targets with a 0.62 Reception NEP per target last season. Our algorithms project Cruz to finish the season with 72 receptions, 862 yards, and 5 touchdowns, if he can stay healthy.
