Rishard Matthews

Rishard Matthews may start over Kenny Stills for Dolphins

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Rishard Matthews started the Dolphins' third preseason game over Kenny Stills.

What It Means:

This would be surprising. Stills missed time with a calf injury early in camp, sitting out the first couple weeks of practice in addition to the first preseason game. Across 35 snaps this preseason, Stills has caught 3-of-4 targets for 31 scoreless yards.

Stills impressively ranked first among all wide receivers with at least 80 targets with a 1.05 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target in New Orleans last season. The Dolphins finished 16th in our schedule-adjusted Passing NEP metric last season. We have Matthews with 298 yards on 23 grabs while Stills is projected for 49 receptions, 696 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns.
