Broncos running back Montee Ball in danger of losing roster spot

Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball is at risk of losing a roster spot as he continues to slide down the depth chart at running back, according to Cameron Wolfe of The Denver Post.

What It Means:

Ball initially started training camp as the backup running back to C.J. Anderson. However, he is currently slotted as fourth on the depth chart behind Anderson, Ronnie Hillman, and Juwan Thompson after a poor training camp and preseason. Ball will need to make an impact on special teams to garner a roster spot.

The Broncos ranked eighth in our schedule-adjusted Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) metric last season. Ball ranked 64th out of 71 running backs with at least 50 carries with a -0.15 Rushing NEP per carry last season. Our algorithms project Ball to finish the year with 278 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, 14 receptions and 89 receiving yards, if he makes the team.
