Buccaneers trade Tim Wright to Lions
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded tight end Tim Wright to the Detroit Lions for kicker Kyle Brindza, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
The acquisition of Brindza means the Bucs now have three kickers on their roster. Wright joins a Lions team that already has Eric Ebron, Brandon Pettigrew and Joe Fauria on the roster.
Over 33 targets in 2014 with the New England Patriots, Wright had a Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target of 0.81. Ebron was much less efficient in his rookie campaign, clocking in with a Reception NEP per target of 0.41, though part of that is due to the difference in quarterback play. Pettigrew was targeted 15 times, finishing with a Reception NEP per target of 0.21. The Lions ranked 11th in our schedule-adjusted Passing NEP per play in 2014.
