Falcons extend Julio Jones for five years, $71.2 million
Atlanta Falcons signed wide receiver Julio Jones to a five-year contract extension through 2020.
Patience paid off for the oft-injured superstar wideout, whose peers in Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas got matching $70 million deals this offseason. Julio also gets $47 million guaranteed, which is $15 million more than Bryant and $12 million more than Thomas.
Jones is annually one of the top wide receivers in the league, and is more than deserving of this deal. In 2014, he was the sixth-best wide receiver with over 100 targets by per-play Reception Net Expected Points. He ranked second in raw Reception NEP. This deal comes on the precipice of what could be a career year for the Falcons' star if he can stay healthy.
