Mike Gillislee

Mike Gillislee most likely to fill Patriots' big back role

New England Patriots running back Mike Gillislee is "the most likely running back" to fill the big back/goal line role, ESPN reporter Mike Reiss wrote.

What It Means:

Blount rushed for a gaudy 18 touchdowns last season and recorded 43 total scores in 57 career games with the Patriots (including playoffs). Gillislee looks like the best bet to take on that role, although he could lose some work to a combination of James White, Dion Lewis, and Rex Burkhead. New England's backfield is likely to induce headaches this fall, but Gillislee is the best fantasy bet because of his touchdown upside.

Our models project Gillislee for 639 rushing yards and 5.28 touchdowns on 129 carries, adding 21 catches for 147 receiving yards and 1.01 touchdowns. This puts him as the most fantasy-viable New England running back, but just 35th among all fantasy runners.
