Aaron Dobson playing for his job?
ESPN reporter Mike Reiss believes New England Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson "might have been playing for a job" on Friday night.
This isn't entirely likely, as the Patriots' receiving corps is absolutely decimated right now. Dobson, a 2013 second-round pick, is all but guaranteed a roster spot for this season on a team that's turning to veteran free agents like Reggie Wayne to plug holes.
Dobson had a strong rookie season in 2013, but followed it up with a 2014 year plagued by injury. He saw just five targets last season, but still has post-hype sleeper upside if he's healthy. Among lower-volume receivers (less than 100 targets) in 2013, Dobson ranked 22nd in Reception Net Expected Points. He struggled on Friday, so he's not worth picking up yet in most leagues until we see something from him.
