Sean Weatherspoon

Sean Weatherspoon (hamstring) still sitting out at practice

Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, hampered by a hamstring strain, remains unlikely to play in the Arizona Cardinals' third preseason game.

What It Means:

Weatherspoon seems to be perpetually injured. He hasn't practiced with the team since straining his hamstring on the first day of training camp. It's unlikely we'll see him back before the start of the regular season.

Head coach Bruce Arians is apparently frustrated with the free agent acquisition, but there's just not enough quality in the Cardinals' linebacking corps to sit Weatherspoon if he's healthy. The team ranked 11th last year in schedule-adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points, but had to get really creative with how they deployed their safeties to achieve this standing. They may have to do the same again, which is good news for the IDP fantasy fortunes of Deone Bucannon.
