Latavius Murray (ankle) likely to be Vikings' short-yardage back

Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray (ankle) will be the team's short-yardage back this season, Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune believes.

What It Means:

Minnesota struggled in short-yardage situations last season while Murray scored nine touchdowns from inside the five-yard line in Oakland, though they had the benefit of one of the best offensive lines in the league. Second-round rookie Dalvin Cook should be the starter, but Murray could vulture some fantasy value if he earns the goal-line job. He's still in limbo to be ready for training camp in time, however.

Our models project Murray for 748 rushing yards and 4.38 touchdowns on 173 carries, adding 24 catches for 158 yards and 0.54 scores. That's the 32nd-best fantasy projection among running backs in 2017.
