Trent Murphy

Redskins' Trent Murphy expected to start in place of Junior Galette

Washington Redskins outside linebacker Trent Murphy will shift into a starting role after the season-ending injury to Junior Galette.

What It Means:

Murphy recorded 32 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles during his rookie year last season. Murphy does not have the same pass-rushing ability as Galette, but he is solid player in run defense. Rookie Preston Smith should also see an increase in reps as a result of Galette's injury.

The Redskins ranked 32nd in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points metric last season. Our algorithms project Murphy to finish the year with 33 tackles and 3.0 sacks.
