Dolphins' Jarvis Landry expects Julius Thomas to take pressure off

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry believes the addition of tight end Julius Thomas will make his life easier in the slot.

What It Means:

Landry estimated he's been double-teamed on "about half the pass plays" the Dolphins ran over the past two seasons. Miami Herald reporter Armando Salguero has been impressed with Thomas' work at OTAs and seems to believe Thomas can rediscover his early-career form. Landry's target load could take a hit, but he would then see more advantageous coverage looks with Thomas stretching the middle of the field.

Thomas averaged 0.42 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target last season, finishing 29th out of the 32 tight ends with at least 50 targets. Among the 41 wide receivers to top 100 targets in 2016, Landry's 0.64 Reception NEP per target was 30th.
