Joe Mixon continues to receive praise from Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals second-round running back Joe Mixon was praised for his "versatility" by quarterback Andy Dalton.

What It Means:

"One of the things that helps with a guy that is versatile is you’re not tipping anything – you could be running the ball and you could be throwing it," Dalton said. "From what I saw in college and one of the big reasons we brought him in is because he can do both." Mixon's ability to perform both as an early-down back and on passing downs makes the Bengals' offense tougher to defend as a whole. Things continue to point towards the rookie surpassing Jeremy Hill on the depth chart before the season.

Among the 48 running backs with at least 100 carries in 2016, Hill finished 16th in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry while Giovani Bernard was 35th. As a team, the Bengals were 10th in Adjusted Rushing NEP per play.
