Markus Wheaton potential starter for Bears in 2017

Chicago Bears wide receiver Markus Wheaton was among the starters in ESPN reporter Jeff Dickerson's mid-May projection.

What It Means:

Chicago does not have much behind Cameron Meredith and Kevin White, and Wheaton was given $6 million guaranteed on a "two-year" contract. That said, Wheaton is still recovering from a shoulder injury and after signing Dion Sims and drafting Adam Shaheen in the second round, the Bears could end up using a lot more two-tight-end sets.

Wheaton caught four passes for 51 yards and a touchdown in 2016. He hauled in 44 catches for 749 yards and 5 scores across 16 games in the the previous campaign.
