Chargers not expected to open season with Mike Williams as starter
Los Angeles Chargers first-round wide receiver Mike Williams won't be a starter, projects ESPN Chargers reporter Eric Williams.
The reporter believes the rookie will be competing with Travis Benjamin for the third wide receiver spot behind Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams. It seems likely the first-rounder would beat out Benjamin in that battle, but it's important to note how much competition there will be for targets. Hunter Henry and Antonio Gates will also be involved.
Williams recorded 98 catches for 1,361 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2016 for Clemson.
