The Arizona Cardinals signed quarterback Blaine Gabbert to a one-year contract.
Gabbert gives the Cardinals another veteran behind Carson Palmer after they were leapfrogged by the Kansas City Chiefs for rookie Patrick Mahomes in the draft. Gabbert completed just 56.9 percent of his throws in 2016, with an anemic 5.8 yards-per-attempt average. In Arizona, Gabbert will compete with Drew Stanton for backup duties.
Gabbert's -0.13 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back was third-worst among the 39 quarterbacks to drop back at least 100 times last year.
