Jay Ajayi's receiving drastically improved, according to Dolphins

Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi's receiving skills are "200 percent" better than this time last year, offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said.

What It Means:

Christensen was seeing nothing but rainbows and unicorns on Saturday, adding there is "no question" Ajayi will be better this season after spending several minutes praising DeVante Parker, Laremy Tunsil, and Julius Thomas. The passing game is one area Ajayi can improve on his breakout season after averaging just 5.6 yards on 27 receptions. Ajayi was good out of the backfield in college, however, so it will not be surprising if he is able to take a step forward in that department. Already a locked-in RB1, Ajayi could push into the top five if he sees a big bump in targets.

Ajayi was ridiculously efficient on the ground, coming in sixth in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt among the 42 running backs with at least 100 carries this year. His Reception NEP per target was fifth worst among these players.
