San Francisco 49ers rookie first-round linebacker Reuben Foster had concussion issues while at the University of Alabama, and that his "recovery time was a concern," reports Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
Much has been made of Foster's shoulder issues, but the concussions didn't receive much attention throughout the pre-draft process. They were believed to have happened "early" on in his career in Tuscaloosa. The 31st pick from this year's draft is about as high-risk, high-reward as it gets.
Foster recorded 24 tackles for a loss and eight sacks across 24 starts during his college tenure. If healthy, he should help a San Francisco defense that was fifth-worst in the league last season in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
