Jamaal Charles

Jamaal Charles finds new home with Broncos

The Denver Broncos agreed to terms with running back Jamaal Charles, formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs, on a one-year contract.

What It Means:

Charles exceeded 5.0 yards per carry (YPC) every single season during the first eight years of his career, but he's been limited to just eight games over the last two seasons, making it tough to gauge what the now 30-year-old back is still capable of. He'll carry plenty of upside in a Denver backfield that is currently led by C.J. Anderson (career-low 4.0 YPC last season).

Charles has attempted just 83 rushing attempts over the last two years, but that's come with 0.08 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry over that span of time. That would have been top-10 in the NFL in 2016 among the 54 backs with 80 or more carries. The Broncos, meanwhile, finished fourth-worst in the league last year in terms of Adjusted Offensive Rushing NEP per play.
