Elijah McGuire joins Jets' committee with 188th overall
The New York Jets selected Louisiana-Lafayette running back Elijah McGuire with the 188th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
McGuire -- 5'10", 214 pounds -- ran well in Indy, with 4.53 speed but flunking the three-cone drill at 7.26. Still, McGuire’s pass-catching resume, reliable ball security, and compact build give him some appeal as a potential committee back. He could push Bilal Powell in time.
McGuire became the Ragin Cajuns’ all-time leader in all-purpose yards and touchdowns over his career, with 5,968 and 52. His career turned in 4,312 rushing yards on 711 attempts (6.1 yards per carry) and 42 touchdowns, with 1,383 receiving yards on 129 catches (10.7 yards per reception) with 10 scores.
