Eagles select Shelton Gibson at 166 overall

The Philadelphia Eagles selected West Virginia wide receiver Shelton Gibson with the 166th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

What It Means:

Gibson started for two years at WVU before going pro as a redshirt junior. Billed as a speed threat, the 5'11", 191-pound Gibson disappointed at the Combine with a 4.50-flat 40-yard dash. Like most ex-Mountaineer wideouts, Gibson enters the NFL with limited route experience. He also has small, 8 7/8" hands and struggled with drops at West Virginia. Gibson's best NFL projection may be on special teams.

For his career, Gibson racked up 1,898 receiving yards on 84 catches (22.6 yards per reception) with 17 touchdowns while averaging 23.5 yards on kickoff returns.
