Jeremy McNichols add competition to Buccaneers' backfield at 162nd pick
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Boise State running back Jeremy McNichols with the 162nd overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
The 5'9", 214 pound McNichols turned pro after three years at Boise, starting the final two and twice earning second-team All-Mountain West. McNichols helped himself in Indy, posting a 4.49 40 and 6.93 three-cone time. McNichols profiles best as a passing-down specialist, and therefore Charles Sims' direct backup.
McNichols's college career ended with 3,205 rushing yards on 571 carries (5.61 yards per carry) with 44 touchdowns and adding 103 receptions. Pro Football Focus chalked him up for just two career drops. Also one of the best blitz-pickup backs in the draft, McNichols allowed just one sack over his final 237 pass-blocking snaps.
