Patriots exercise Brandin Cooks's fifth-year option
The New England Patriots exercised wide receiver Brandin Cooks' fifth-year team option for 2018.
The move is a no-brainer after New England traded a first-round pick and some change to land Cooks in March. The receiver is now under contract for the next two years, but the Patriots could look to sign him to an extension next offseason.
Cooks is coming off a 78 catch, 1,173 yard, 8 TD season. He ranked fourth with 0.84 net expected points per target -- out of 41 WRs with 100 targets or more in 2016.
