Buccaneers add outside receiving threat at 84th pick in Chris Godwin
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Penn State wide receiver Chris Godwin with the 84th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Godwin, who stands 6'1" and 209 pounds, joins a loaded weapon cabinet for quarterback Jameis Winston. He proved to be one of the most athletic, high-ceiling prospects in a weak 2017 wideout class with a 4.42 40 and explosive 10'6" broad jump at the Combine. While he is still learning to use his speed and has room to improve after the catch, Godwin impressed with acrobatic plays on tape.
Godwin finished his Nittany Lion career with 2,421 receiving yards on 154 catches (15.4 yards per reception), as well as 18 touchdowns. He topped 1,100 yards at age 19, and scored 11 touchdowns last season as a 20-year-old; now he just needs to put it all together at the same time.
