Washington shopping Matt Jones for Day 3 pick

Washington is shopping running back Matt Jones, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

What It Means:

Jones has fallen completely out of favor in DC, tumbling to fourth on the depth chart behind Rob Kelley and Mack Brown -- both went undrafted -- and third-down back Chris Thompson. Head coach Jay Gruden recently "didn't have much good to say about" Jones, who has put the ball on the ground with fumbles far too often and was benched midseason in 2016. Washington would likely take a seventh-rounder for Jones.

On 99 rushes in 2016, Jones racked up -0.03 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt. Among the 42 rushers to get at least 100 carries this year, Kelley's -0.02 Rushing NEP per attempt was 25th.
