Browns kicking tires on A.J. McCarron with Bengals

The Cleveland Browns have "touched base" with the Cincinnati Bengals about quarterback A.J. McCarron, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

What It Means:

Rapoport is hearing that Cincinnati's asking price for McCarron is "high," which explains why talks haven't gotten very far. The Bengals don't have much incentive to move McCarron, who is under contract through 2018.

On 131 drop backs in 2015, McCarron posted 0.14 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back, the 12th-best mark among the 46 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs that year. He completed 66.4 percent of his 119 pass attempts for 854 yards while throwing 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
