Buffalo Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes believes head coach Sean McDermott's new 4-3 scheme will play to the team's strengths.
"He wants us to go out there and play fast and play physical," said Hughes. "That’s the two main focal points that they’re bringing." The Bills thrived in a 4-3 scheme under defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, but Rex Ryan installed a 3-4 defense when he took over. Shoring up the defense will be a point of emphasis under McDermott and new defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.
Buffalo ranked 20th in the NFL last season in schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play.
