Giants being coy about Odell Beckham's fifth-year option
The New York Giants have until May 3 to exercise wide receiver Odell Beckham's fifth-year option for 2018.
General manager Jerry Reese was noncommittal when asked about Beckham's option on Thursday. "We are going to discuss that when the time gets closer," he said. "We will keep all of our options open with respect to that." Reese is being coy for some reason, but there's no doubt the Giants will pick up Beckham's option. The Giants can live with the occasional temper tantrum from Beckham as long as he continues to produce as one of the game's elite receivers.
Among the 41 receivers to top 100 targets in 2016, Beckham's 0.66 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target were 27th-most. The league-average Reception NEP per target rate was 0.66.
