Vikings' rookie Trae Waynes won't see time at nickel corner this weekend
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes won't see time as the nickel corner in Saturday's pre-season game against the Oakland Raiders, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.
Waynes, the 11th overall pick in this year's draft, has struggled through the Vikings' first two pre-season games. He was penalized three times in the Hall-of-Fame game. On the opening depth chart, Waynes was listed as a back-up behind off-season acquisition Terence Newman opposite of Xavier Rhodes.
The Vikings finished last season 18th in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play. Waynes recorded three interceptions and eight passes defensed his final season at Michigan State.
