Patriots would rather keep Jimmy Garoppolo
The New England Patriots "truly" want to keep quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, according to a "persistent belief within league circles," ProFootballTalk reports.
What It Means:
Tom Brady will be 40 in August, so it makes plenty of sense that the Patriots want to hold onto Garoppolo for insurance purposes. He's set to hit free agency next offseason.
If Garoppolo had qualified, his 0.44 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back would have ranked first among all quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs in 2016.
