Texans willing to trade second-round pick for Patriots' Malcolm Butler
The Houston Texans are interested in New England Patriots restricted free agent defensive back Malcolm Butler, and would be willing to trade a second-round pick, reports Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports.
The Texans still have their 2017 second-round pick, as it was their 2018 two that was given up in the Brock Osweiler salary dump. Regardless, Edholm doesn't believe it will be enough to get a deal done for Butler. He's reportedly already in contract negotiations with the New Orleans Saints, who appear to be the favorite for his services next season.
Houston finished sixth in the NFL last season in schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play. New England ranked a few spots behind at 11th.
