DeMarcus Ware could return at some point in 2017
Retired linebacker DeMarcus Ware's decision to walk away could end up being a "soft retirement," Altitude Sports Network's Vic Lombardi suggested while appearing on ProFootballTalk Live.
Ware may want to explore his options come training camp or later in the preseason, Lombardi believes. His announcement was somewhat of a surprise after he met with the Los Angeles Rams and was thought to be fielding offers in free agency. However, back issues have limited Ware to 21 games over the past two years, so he may just want to take it easy in the offseason ahead of what will be an age-35 campaign.
The 11th pick of the 2005 draft recorded 138.5 career sacks -- eighth-most all time -- while playing nine years for the Cowboys and three for the Broncos.
